Annie-B Parson is a choreographer and the artistic director of Big Dance Theater. They've created over 20 large scale works for BAM, The Old Vic/London, Sadler’s Wells/London, The Walker, The National Theater in Paris, Japan Society and The Kitchen. Parson has also made choreography for rock shows, marching bands, movies, museums, objects, television, augmented reality, opera, ballet, plays, symphony orchestras, string quartets, and a chorus of 1,000 amateur singers. Some of the artist she has worked with include David Byrne, David Bowie, St. Vincent, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Wendy Whelan, Laurie Anderson, Suzan-Lori Parks, Jonathan Demme, Salt ‘n Pepa, and the Martha Graham Dance Co. Her work with David Byrne has spanned over many years and American Utopia, is currently on Broadway, and was made into a movie by Spike Lee. Awards include: a Guggenheim Fellowship, Jacobs Pillow Dance Award, Bessie Awards, Doris Duke Award, and an Olivier nomination.
