Dimitri Kim
Dimitri Damiel Kim, Dipl.-Ing. Architektur, AIA. is the founding member and Chief Research Officer of the ‘X-Lab’ a trans-disciplinary and collaborative design and research practice, working in all scales of projects in architecture, interior, urbanism, product, and experiential/brand environment.
His most recent work includes ‘Eco Pylon’, a prototype floating, renewable energy generator for the urban waterfront (Lexus Design Award 2017), ‘Wellness Park’, a health-conscious public park for the low-income families in NYC District 5 (Design Trust for Equitable Public Space 2018), and experiential space for 'Wells Fargo' in 20 Hudson Yard (Highline 2020).
A consummate provocateur, Dimitri regularly contributes to critical discourse in design and architecture through built work, exhibitions, writing, and teaching. He is a fellow of Columbia University’s design and technology incubator, GSAPP Inc. at the New Museum (2015-2017) and has previously taught at CUNY, FIT, NJIT, NYSID, Parsons, University of Utah, and the University of Hawaii.
