NEW INC x ABMB 2015
It’s that time of year again, when the art world flocks en masse to the sun-drenched shores of Miami Beach, Florida to experience art on an international scale. Today marks an unofficial opening of this collection of exhibitions, installations, performances, and events that seems to grow with every year, overtaking the city to accompany the main event, Art Basel, which runs December 3-6. We’re excited to highlight how our members are collaborating this year in our guide to NEW INC x ABMB:
Rachel Rossin will immerse viewers in her alternate environments with I Came And Went As A Ghost Hand, a series of oil paintings with a VR component displaying in booth A27 at the UNTITLED. art fair on December 2-6 with gallery Zieher Smith & Horton.
At X Contemporary Art Fair, where ARTLOCAL will be showing off their app, founding partner Steve Miller will be exhibiting natural imagery-laden surfboards from his series Health of the Planet with Willoughby Art Advisory. He'll also be sitting on the panel 'The Working Artist in America Today,' at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 3 in the Wynwood Arts District.
Teaming up with production company The Arena, Maxrelax is throwing a 'GAMETIME' party, featuring their original works and music by Tha Yellow R. Kel, 9Ds Goulet, and Telescope Thieves. It’s at Radio Bar on December 3, and you can RSVP here.
Tunica will be joining NADA Art Fair with the fourth issue of their printed platform for creative collaboration, TUNICA Magazine, directed and designed in partnership with London-based firm Julia. You can browse the fair between December 3-5 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
NEW INC alum Ashley Zelinskie explores the relationship between art and technology with selections from her series Master Paintings and Human Code at Art Miami as part of the TORCH Gallery booth number A32.
On December 6, Emilie Baltz will be at the AirBnB Pavilion at Design Miami doing an interactive installation called Fountain of Youth, involving ice blocks, rubber duckies, and a sensory exploration of childhood memories.
Kamil Nawratil from VolvoxLabs has headed down to Miami to install the studio's interactive portfolio display in the Douglas Elliman Collector's Lounge (Hall D), for the second year at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Close by in Miami, members Dave and Gabe have paired with Snarkitecture and Perfection Electricks to create a light installation of more than 4,000 LED bulbs arranged to mimic a softly falling snow, on display at Aventura Mall.
That’s hours worth of artistic collaboration to explore — and that’s just NEW INC’s contribution! It's a massive collection of events, so if you're in Miami this week, please let us know what your favorite exhibitions and most unmissable booths are, in the comments below.
