Artiphon Opens Pre-Orders for INSTRUMENT 1
For the first time since its record-setting Kickstarter campaign, the Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1 is available for pre-order. Starting at $399 and available in black or white, the INSTRUMENT 1 will ship to pre-order customers in early 2016.
Artiphon (pronounced Ar-ti-fon) is a Nashville and NYC-based technology startup bent on empowering musical creativity in everyday life and reinventing the way people express themselves through music. Artiphon combines musical traditions with emerging technologies to enable greater freedom of expression through sound. The company’s first product, the Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1, allows people of any skill or style to strum a guitar, tap a piano, bow a violin, or loop a drum beat —all on a single interface. By connecting to iOS devices, Macs, and PCs, this portable and durable musical tool can make any sound imaginable.
The INSTRUMENT 1 launched its Kickstarter campaign in the spring of 2015. In under six hours, the device surpassed its initial funding goal of $75,000. The campaign ultimately raised $1.3M, making it the highest-raising crowdfund for a musical instrument worldwide and a top technology campaign on Kickstarter. Over 3,000 early adopters in more than 70 countries backed the project, fueling the final phaseses of product development and bringing a new product category to life. In September, the INSTRUMENT 1 was named a “Product Design” finalist in the 2015 Fast Company . It has been featured in WIRED, TechCrunch, and many others.
The compact and durable device features an on-board battery and stereo speakers.
