Jessica Charlesworth, Tim Parsons
Parsons & Charlesworth is a visual arts and design studio founded in 2014 by Jessica Charlesworth & Tim Parsons. Their work advances a form of speculative practice at the blurred boundary between art and design, often referred to as critical/speculative design, discursive design or design fiction. Using sculpture, designed objects, writing, photography and digital media, they manifest tangible “worlds” as discursive tools for critically appraising key social, ecological and technological challenges of our time, such as climate change, the future of work, and the ethics of technology.
They have shown work internationally at venues and events including the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale 2021, Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), Philadelphia Museum of Art, Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia (MAAT Lisbon), Science Gallery Dublin, Istanbul Design Biennial, Jerusalem Design Week Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Museum of Applied Arts Vienna (MAK) and Chicago Cultural Center."
